Debra Johnson



Suzuki Flute Specialist

Debra Johnson received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance with Honors from Southern Methodist University (SMU). While at SMU, she played principal flute in the orchestra for three years. She continued her studies with a scholarship to the Ostlandets Music Conservatorium in Oslo, Norway and has completed the course work for a Masters degree at SMU. In addition she has studied with Torkil Bye, Jean Larson, Claire Johnson and Julius Baker.

Ms. Johnson has soloed with the Music Conservatorium Orchestra in Norway and at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and the National Flute Association. She has also performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Ballet Orchestra and the Dallas Opera Orchestra. She was a one-time recipient of the Outstanding Player Award at Jean-Pierre Rampal Master Class and a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Player Award at Julius Baker Master Class. She is a member of the Liptonshire Chamber Players.
